Indiana Gov. Mike Pence accepted the nomination to serve as Republican nominee Donald Trump’s vice president, telling the Republican National Convention the 2016 general election is about “change versus status quo.”
“I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican in that order,” Pence said as he introduced himself. “I thought I’d be spending this evening with all my friends from the great state of Indiana, yet there I was a few days ago in New York City with a man who won 37 states.”
Pence was officially announced Trump’s running mate last weekend in New York City.
The Indiana governor introduced his family and spoke about his conservative record.
“We will always stand with those who stand on the thin blue line of law enforcement in America,” Pence stated, which ended up being the top moment discussed on Facebook during the VP’s speech.
He praised Trump, saying “the man just doesn’t quit,” and knocked his rival presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton
“Hillary Clinton will never become President of the United States of America,” he challenged, saying she “essentially offers a third Obama term.”
“Conservative principles work every time you put them in to practice,” he reasoned.
