Here’s a strange situation.

China is running the world’s largest trade surplus, amounting to almost $1 trillion last year. The surplus, however, isn’t enough to offset capital outflows and support the yuan. The combination isn’t sustainable. A large fiscal stimulus is key to solving the puzzle.
