For much of the duration of Trump's presidency, but especially since "Liberation Day", it has been non-stop headline chaos, a relentless surge in volatility, and nosebleeding market gyrations, all because of one thing: the record US trade deficit, in general, and how to shrink it down to zero, in particular (even though as many correctly note, no trade deficit would also effectively neutralize the role of the USD as global reserve currency as trade counterparts would no longer need to recycle their dollar holdings back into the US, resulting in a debt crisis for a country that needs constant foreign capital inflows to fund its budget deficit).
